SHADOWSTALK
About The Project
ShadowStalk is a small asymmetric PvP horror game where a few small "shades" have to find a number of randomly spawning keys in the dark corridors of a hospital in limbo, all while being chased by a larger shade who wants to stop them from leaving him. Once all keys are collected, an exit gate presents itself and the shades may try to run to safety.
The unique selling point of the game is its style and atmosphere, as well as the players' ability to close their glowing eyes - blocking their vision but making them harder to find in the dark.
It was developed over the course of about 4 months by a team of 5 Game Development students including myself.
My Contributions
I served as programming lead, directing and overseeing the programming efforts of the other programming talent on the team. This was the first team project we worked on and the development window was quite small, so there's not much complexity to the systems.
My work on this title includes:
Gameplay Networking
Player Movement, Crouching, Jumping
Players being able to close their eyes and a framework for them to be able to show emotions like happy, sad, angry or tired/bored
Gameplay logic for spawning keys and opening exit doors when all keys were picked up
One song for the menu which you can find here
